Civil War Era Fashion Plate - March 1863 Peterson's Magazine Fashions for March Fig 1 - Dress of Fawn-Colored Silk, trimmed around the bottom with black velvet. Black velvet circular cloak, trimmed with broad lace. Bonnet of white tulle, spotted with black, with a cape and trimming of blue velvet, and a blue feather. Fig 2 - Riding Habit of Dark Green Merino - The left side of the skirt is finished with large buttons and a band of green silk; this band passes all around the bottom of the skirt. The body is made with a moderately long basque, and is open in front. Sleeves nearly tight, with deep cuff. Black felt hat, with long white floating plume.
